Our Course: General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)
We offer a comprehensive GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) diploma program aimed at preparing students for diverse roles in clinical and community health settings.
Duration: 3 Years (including integrated internship).
Level: Diploma.
Focus Areas:
Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology.
Fundamentals of Nursing and First Aid.
Community Health and Medical-Surgical Nursing.
Midwifery and Child Health Care

Eligible Criteria

To be eligible for the GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) course at Wise Institute of Nursing, candidates must meet the standards set by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the West Bengal Nursing Council (WBNC).

Health Requirements
Medical Fitness: Every candidate must be medically fit and is required to submit a Medical Fitness Certificate in the prescribed format at the time of admission

Educational Qualifications

Minimum Qualification: You must have passed the 10+2 (Higher Secondary) examination from a recognized board (WBCHSE, CBSE, ICSE, or equivalent).
Minimum Marks: A minimum of 40% aggregate marks is required in the qualifying examination.
Mandatory Subject: You must have passed English with at least 40% marks individually.
Preferred Stream: While students from Science (with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) are often preferred, candidates from Arts and Commerce streams are also eligible.
Vocational Stream: Candidates from the Health Care Science vocational stream are eligible if they meet the 40% mark requirement

Age Criteria

Minimum Age: You must be at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the admission year.
Maximum Age: The upper age limit is generally 35 years. However, for the WBJEE ANM/GNM 2026 entrance exam, recent updates from the WBJEEB have removed the upper age limit for GNM

Residency and Language

Domicile: Candidates must be Indian citizens and permanent residents of West Bengal.
Language Proficiency: Applicants must be able to read, write, and express themselves fluently in Bengali and/or Nepali
